„Pinocchio” is a book about the ups and downs of an ordinary family. In this novel, as well as in Nikolai Tabakov’s previous volumes, the ordinary and the extraordinary weave around each other and sometimes they even merge together. Various existential philosophical questions such as „What is right and wrong?”, „Who are we?” and „What are we doing here?” appear and request to be answered in the course of the characters’ experiences. The author has also introduced an innovative technique in his narrative – the so called „impressions”, which are short literary essays on various topics such as style, moral, spirit, time, space, etc., which add breaths of air and intended intellectualism to the plot.
